Job Title: Extruder Operator

We are seeking an experienced Extruder Operator to join our Prysmian Group team.

About the Role:

This is a hands-on position responsible for operating extrusion machines that apply coating onto a conductor through a curing process and package it.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Understand and perform all tasks and responsibilities according to established Job Safety Practices (JSP).
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment, adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies and regulations.
  • Load reels of specified core wire onto payoff and thread wire throughout the line.
  • Monitor line control devices, adjusting machine controls to regulate factors such as line speed, outside diameter thickness, color, steam pressure, temperature, water level, and tensions.
  • Start the machine and observe operation to detect malfunctions and/or specification variances, taking corrective action when necessary.
  • Examine wire for conformance to specifications and perform quality checks.
  • Change machines according to part runs as specified on Work Orders.
  • Use HFA program to record and tag data such as scrap and finished goods.
  • Maintain accurate data and information on quality logs, production reporting, and applicable documentation.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Verbal communication and listening skills suitable for a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical instructions.
  • Legible handwriting.
Physical Demands:
  • Corrected vision to 20/20.
  • Able to visually distinguish colors accurately.
  • Occasional manual lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent manual pushing/pulling, scooting, sliding, rotating, or rolling products or objects of medium to large size and various weights.
  • Active walking with irregular periods of standing and infrequent sitting or leaning.

The estimated salary for this role is $65,000 - 85,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
