Medical Reporting Professional Wanted

Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health is seeking a skilled medical reporting professional to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with pathologists to document and report pathological findings.

About the Job

This position involves working in a fast-paced environment where you will be responsible for transcribing dictation into pathology reports, formatting surgical pathology reports, and maintaining records and files. You will also be responsible for screening and handling telephone interactions for multiple pathologists and managing the Extra Departmental Review documentation for pathologists.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transcribe dictation into pathology report.
  • Format surgical pathology report from requisition form, pathologist assistant's gross description, and pathologist's dictation of a diagnosis.
  • Pull previous case reports and slides as requested by pathologist or other agents.
  • Screens and handles telephone interactions for eight (9) pathologists, including reading complex surgical pathology reports, coordinating requests for frozen section exams in O.R., and medical-legal requests.
  • Maintains records and files permission forms, certificates for cremation, mass burial, autopsy permission, and legal requests.
  • Evaluates and prepares requests, specimens slides, and documentation for selected send-outs.
  • Handles documentation, resulting, and distribution of consultation reports and specialized testing.
  • Manages the Extra Departmental Review documentation for pathologists.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma.
  • Degree from a medical secretarial school or equivalent experience.
  • Typing 60-65 words per minute minimum.
  • One (1) year experience as medical secretary/medical transcriptionist with complex medical terminology and professional interpersonal/telephone communication skills.
Estimated Salary Range

The estimated salary range for this position is $50,000-$70,000 per annum, based on experience and qualifications.
