The Facilities Maintenance Supervisor is accountable for overseeing the maintenance and electrical operations within the organization. This role collaborates closely with the General Manager to ensure that all machinery and workforce objectives are fulfilled. The supervisor will set departmental priorities based on operational insights, guide contractors, and promote a culture of safety through effective leadership techniques, including staff motivation, performance evaluations, environmental health & safety (EHS) practices, training, workforce management, and addressing employee relations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Foster a secure working environment by holding the department accountable for safety protocols.
- Support maintenance planning and reliability initiatives utilizing CMMS / Ivara systems.
- Assess and enhance processes, procedures, and equipment to mitigate safety risks, aiming for a zero OSHA recordable case rate.
- Lead, coach, mentor, and motivate team members to meet departmental objectives efficiently and safely, while continuously enhancing skills and operational effectiveness.
- Design and execute training programs to improve the core competencies of team members.
- Ensure robust internal controls over departmental processes and manage business risks in alignment with company standards, including overseeing maintenance budgets and expenditures.
- Direct and prioritize departmental activities to align with safety, quality, production, and cost efficiency goals.
- Determine staffing requirements, equipment needs, and departmental schedules to guarantee operational success.
- Formulate and implement a comprehensive departmental strategy in collaboration with Reliability to maximize equipment availability and operational uptime.
- Act as the primary liaison for mechanical and electrical contractors during significant maintenance projects and shutdowns.
- Encourage positive employee relations and communication within the department and across the organization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Manufacturing with 3-5 years of experience in Maintenance Management, or 10 years of manufacturing management experience; or a combination of education and experience.
- At least five years of experience in a dynamic, multi-tasking industrial manufacturing setting.
- A minimum of three years in a supervisory role, including conducting performance reviews, hiring, and disciplinary actions.
- Five years of progressively responsible experience in an industrial maintenance capacity.
- Proficient in advanced computer applications, including MS Office.
- In-depth knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and associated diagnostic tools (e.g., vibration analysis, oil monitoring, thermography) and related software.
- Strong mechanical and electrical understanding and aptitude.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
