Key Responsibilities

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA, LPTA) in home health is responsible for delivering treatment and providing exercise guidance and patient education aimed at enhancing the patient's overall well-being while adhering to the established care plan.

  • Ensure compliance with all state-specific regulations governing physical therapy in home care, executing treatment as directed by the supervising Physical Therapist and performing only those procedures for which you are qualified and trained.
  • Guide and assist patients in active and passive exercises, muscle re-education, gait training, functional activities, activities of daily living (ADL), transfers, safety protocols, and prosthetic training.
  • Monitor, document, and communicate with the supervising Physical Therapist, nursing supervisor, and/or physician regarding the patient's response to treatment and any changes in their condition. Collaborate with other healthcare team members as necessary.
  • Educate patients, families, caregivers, and other healthcare team members on therapy practices within the scope of the Physical Therapy Assistant's role.

Required Qualifications

  • Must hold a current license, registration, or certification to assist in the practice of physical therapy in the state of Oregon.
  • A valid CPR certification is mandatory.
  • Must possess a current driver's license, vehicle insurance, and have access to reliable transportation or public transit.
