Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Imaging Specialist to join our team at Advocate Health. As a Diagnostic Imaging Specialist, you will be responsible for operating ultrasound equipment to perform general, vascular, and cardiac procedures/studies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Proficiently operate ultrasound equipment to perform diagnostic procedures
  • Accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings
  • Review patient medical records to obtain necessary clinical information
  • Position patients and select proper transducers and technical factors for accurate ultrasound procedures
  • Ensure patient safety, mental, and physical comfort
  • Analyze sonograms and communicate findings to physicians
  • Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and cost containment projects
Requirements
  • Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with Abdomen issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Med Sonography (ARDMS)
  • Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with OB/GYN issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Med Sonography (ARDMS)
  • Vascular Technologist (RVT) registration issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
  • Vascular Sonography (VS) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Vascular Specialist (RVS) registration issued by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
  • Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS-AE) registration with Adult Echo issued by the ARDMS
  • Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) registration issued by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
Education and Experience
  • Advanced training beyond High School in Sonography
  • Typically requires 2 years of experience in a Sonographer role
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficiency in all general and/or vascular sonographic procedures
  • Ability to use independent judgment to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings
  • Ability to work effectively with others towards common department goals
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients and caregivers
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, and twist throughout the workday
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist
  • Must be able to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force
