Youth Development Professional

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Youth Development Professional, specializing in Big Sibling support at Camp McCormick and Camp Dean.
About the Role:
- We offer a competitive salary of $26,800 per year, equivalent to $650 weekly, for a summer season that spans from May 27 to August 3.
- The selected candidate will provide one-on-one support to campers who require additional assistance and attention within their assigned unit.
- This role involves working closely with camp directors and parents to develop personalized plans for campers' needs, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience.
- You will be responsible for supervising aspects of the campers' day, including morning activities, cabin clean-up, mealtimes, rest hours, evening activities, and after-hours duties as assigned.
- A key aspect of this position is teaching camping skills that foster coping, positive self-regulation, and resilience in campers.
- Collaboration with other counselors, program staff, and assistant staff is essential to create a supportive team environment.
- You will guide activities and experiences in the unit using girl-leader planning and the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.
- Your primary focus will be on supporting and strengthening courage, confidence, and character in all campers and staff.
- Additional responsibilities include maintaining unit housekeeping, sanitation, care of supplies and equipment, and contributing to the overall health and safety of the campers.
Requirements:
- Candidates must be at least 18 years old and have completed high school.
- Excellent communication skills are essential for success in this role.
- The ability to maneuver through camp without assistance and carry up to 50 pounds is required.
- We seek individuals with integrity, good character, and good judgment.
- Experience working with children, peers, and adults in an outdoor setting is preferred.
- The ability to prioritize the needs of campers above personal requirements is crucial.
- Majors or focus areas involving social work, youth psychology, or special education are desirable.
