Unit Specifics:
- Number of Beds: 29
- Patient Ratios: 4:1
Staffing Description: The unit has a dedicated dayshift unit secretary and 2-3 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) based on patient census. Nightshift staffing includes 2-3 PCTs as well.
Equipment Utilized: The unit is equipped with Welch Allyn dynamaps, Phillips telemetry, and other advanced medical devices.
Scheduling and Floating PoliciesScheduling: The schedule includes 3 weekend shifts per 4-week cycle with self-scheduling options. Requests for days off can be made prior to schedule closure.
Floating Policy: Travel RNs are prioritized for floating assignments, with the oldest float date taking precedence.
Patient Care ExpectationsThe PCU caters to a diverse patient population with complex medical needs, including cardiac and surgical cases. Nurses are expected to perform thorough assessments and manage various medications and treatments.
QualificationsRequired Certifications: BLS and ACLS are mandatory.
Preferred Experience: Candidates should have experience in cardiac telemetry, PCU, or critical care settings.
Advanced Skills RequiredNurses should possess skills in IV insertion, chest tube management, and other critical care procedures.
Uniform RequirementsDress Code: Navy scrubs are required.
