Job Title: Senior Phlebotomist-Processor

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Phlebotomist-Processor to join our team at Complete Health. As a key member of our clinical laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing venipuncture and skin punctures, maintaining specimen integrity, and ensuring accurate and efficient processing of laboratory samples.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform blood draws competently and expediently with minimal patient discomfort
  • Demonstrate knowledge of test requirements, assist in the clinical laboratory as needed
  • Verify patient information using two patient identifiers (first and last name, DOB)
  • Maintain specimen integrity using proper aseptic technique and follow department procedures
  • Process and handle laboratory samples accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner
  • Provide test results for patient diagnosis and treatment by operating hematology, urinalysis, and chemistry analyzers
  • Research specimen requirements for reference labs and arrange for critical specimen handling and transportation
  • Determine proper priorities when organizing daily tasks and adjust schedule as needed
  • Keep work area clean and stocked with necessary supplies
  • Perform maintenance on analyzers and document properly on analyzer logs
  • Maintain daily logs and track collected specimens
  • Document specimens collected and order testing according to requisition from ordering physician
  • Recognize system failures and report inconsistencies or erroneous patient results
  • Organize work by matching computer orders with specimen labeling, sorting specimens, and logging specimens
  • Use proper reporting systems and relay critical/panic reports without delay
  • Contribute to a safe and secure environment by following established standards and procedures
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to professional standards, clinic policies, and federal, state, and local requirements

Requirements:

  • 1 year of experience as a phlebotomist
  • High School Diploma
  • CPT Certification
  • Skillful and knowledgeable in all aspects related to drawing blood
  • Experience with LIS system

  • Knowledge of medical laboratory principles, standards, applications, and tests
  • Knowledge of medical laboratory safety, cleanliness, and infection control policies and regulations
  • Knowledge of medical laboratory equipment uses and maintenance
  • Accuracy in performing work accurately and thoroughly
  • Communication skills to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Computer skills to use a computer and electronic medical record
  • Confidentiality to maintain patient, team member, and employer confidentiality
  • Customer service orientation to be friendly, cheerful, and helpful to patients and others
  • Detail orientation to pay attention to minute details of a project or task
  • Flexibility to adapt easily to changing conditions and work responsibilities
