Description
The Director of Operations Management will oversee and guide the operational and maintenance activities for General John J. Pershing Memorial Hospital. This role involves formulating operational strategies, establishing work plans, managing budgets, and staffing to ensure the successful execution of initiatives and optimal operational performance.
The Director will also coordinate all housekeeping and laundry personnel, assigning tasks to ensure that all areas of the facility adhere to sanitation standards.
The Director is responsible for ensuring that all staff receive comprehensive training and ongoing education regarding departmental policies and procedures. This position reports directly to the CEO.
Requirements
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Recruit, interview, hire, and train new personnel.
- Oversee daily workflows and schedules within the department.
- Conduct timely and constructive performance evaluations.
- Manage disciplinary actions and terminations in line with company policy.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Evaluate existing policies, procedures, and programs for effectiveness.
- Develop, implement, administer, and modify programs to maintain the physical plant, grounds, and equipment across all hospital facilities through effective resource management.
- Ensure thorough documentation of files and records, including required cost calculations for time, materials, and supplies used for each completed requisition or work order.
- Inspect buildings and grounds to verify compliance with established standards and regulations.
- Plan, organize, direct, and supervise the functions and activities of facilities management, engineering, loss prevention, and telecommunications.
- Develop and monitor the hospital-wide safety program and the Emergency Preparedness Program.
- Collaborate with each facility department in safety management and the development of departmental safety programs.
- Prepare reports on hospital safety management activities for the Quality Management Board.
- Act as the Safety Officer, responsible for responding to emergencies and implementing immediate corrective actions for life-threatening situations.
- Work with stakeholders and/or external contractors to define project scope, requirements, schedules, budget estimates, and timelines.
- Oversee housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance departments and their assigned staff.
- Ensure the preparation of various statistical and operational reports for the hospital's Safety/Risk Committee, Infection Control Committee, and the Governing Board.
- Responsible for departmental performance improvement and quality initiatives in alignment with organizational policies and procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Adhere to the facility's Standards of Excellence.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Demonstrated negotiation skills.

- Ability to exercise tact, courtesy, and ethics in interactions with vendors, colleagues, and customers.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software, as well as inventory management software.
Education and Experience:
- One (1) year certificate from a college or technical school; or three years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of utility systems management.
- Experience in hospital operations is highly preferred.
- Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Basic computer proficiency.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
- May require travel to meet with vendors or visit different company locations.
