Cytotechnologist for Travel Assignments

The role of the Cytotechnologist involves the microscopic examination of diverse cellular specimens to identify abnormal cellular changes that may indicate various medical conditions.
Certification Requirements- Must hold certification as a CT (ASCP), scat (ASCP), or CT (CMIAC).
- Graduates from a CAHEA accredited Cytotechnology program are eligible if they do not possess CT (ASCP) certification.
- Position: ASCP Certified Cytotechnologist
- Facility: OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital
- Shift: Typically Monday to Friday; occasional weekends based on lab volume; no on-call duties; no holiday shifts.
The primary duty of the Cytotechnologist is to conduct detailed microscopic evaluations of complex cellular specimens. This includes:
- Identifying abnormal cellular changes indicative of inflammatory, premalignant, malignant, or other pathological conditions.
- Performing assessments with a high level of accuracy, precision, and timeliness.
- Utilizing specialized knowledge in human anatomy, physiology, and pathology acquired through extensive training.
- Working with electronic medical records (EMR) systems, specifically EPIC, while adhering to dress code standards.
- Bachelor's Degree in Cytotechnology, Chemical, Biological, or Clinical Laboratory Science, along with CT (ASCP), scat (ASCP), or CT (CMIAC) certification.
- Alternatively, a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical, Biological, or Clinical Laboratory Science, plus graduation from a CAHEA accredited Cytotechnology program.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a hospital setting with travel requirements.
- Experience in high-volume laboratory environments.
- Proficiency with Hologic/ThinPrep systems; certification in Hologic imaging is mandatory.
To be eligible for this position, the traveler’s permanent residence must be located more than 100 miles from the central facility. Candidates must provide ThinPrep certification, diploma, and relevant documentation with their application.
