Key Responsibilities
  • Adhere to food safety and sanitation procedures as trained and directed by the Manager in Charge
  • Prepare ingredients as assigned according to Farmer Boys specifications, procedures, and weights
  • Ensure correct portioning, sizing, and freshness
  • Follow food preparation sheets to ensure appropriate stock levels for items used and provide feedback to management regarding par levels and usage
  • Notify the manager of any perishable items whose freshness is questionable
  • Operate, clean, and sharpen all appropriate food preparation equipment
  • Report all spoilage and poor-quality products to the manager immediately
  • Assist line cooks during lunch hours as necessary and as directed by the Manager in Charge
  • Maintain stock and cleanliness of required work areas as directed by the Manager in Charge
  • Follow the work schedule as posted unless a change in the schedule is arranged with the Manager in Charge
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. required
  • 0-3 years of cooking or preparation cook or combination of experience in a restaurant or food service establishment
Working Conditions

The Prep Cook will be working in a fast-paced kitchen environment with high ambient air temperatures. The employee will be regularly exposed to the risk of fumes and will be required to use solvents and industrial degreasers to clean equipment, tools, and floors.

The physical requirements of the job include standing (up to 4 hours at a time), walking, bending, and stooping. The employee will also be required to lift up to 65 pounds.
