The Facilities Maintenance Specialist oversees the daily engineering functions within the establishment. This role encompasses various responsibilities including project oversight, general safety compliance, procurement, and vendor collaboration. The specialist is accountable for executing preventive maintenance and repairs across hotel guest accommodations, communal areas, equipment, and the surrounding grounds.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct preventive maintenance on tools and equipment in kitchen and mechanical areas, ensuring proper cleaning and lubrication.
  • Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment and utility shut-offs for the facility.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and perform basic repairs on various equipment, plumbing (e.g., unclogging drains), electrical components including lamps, cosmetic items, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, and replacing electrical switches and outlets.
  • Ensure effective communication of daily activities and issues to other shifts using established communication protocols.
  • Guarantee that all tasks are performed safely and efficiently, adhering to safety standards and optimal equipment usage.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of departmental safety protocols. Participate in safety training and in-service programs as required for ongoing professional development.
  • Keep accurate service records for mechanical and structural systems.
  • Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures related to facility operations, employee relations, timekeeping, and safety, including the completion of daily, weekly, and monthly documentation.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Engineering.

Required Qualifications:

  • Technical Degree
  • Technical Training
  • Relevant Trade Certifications
  • Experience in Hospitality, Healthcare, or a related field
  • Preferred certifications in HVAC and/or Electrical trades
  • Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and position objects weighing up to 50 pounds independently, and heavier items with assistance. Capable of navigating stairs, service ramps, and ladders. Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Ability to perform tasks at heights up to 50 feet using ladders, harnesses, and lifts.
  • Proficient computer skills, including familiarity with database software, internet applications, order processing systems, and the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Valid Driver's License
