Custodial Services Worker

The University of Virginia Facilities Management Department is seeking a highly skilled Custodial Services Worker to join our team.
Job SummaryThis is a full-time position responsible for maintaining clean and orderly conditions in assigned areas, including offices, classrooms, restrooms, public areas, and other facilities. The successful candidate will possess excellent housekeeping skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain offices, classrooms, restrooms, public areas, or other assigned areas in clean and orderly condition.
- Remove trash, clean bathrooms, wipe down surfaces, dust, vacuum, and apply proper methods and materials.
- Maintain clean and orderly housekeeping closets and equipment and keep inventories of supplies, requesting additional supplies as needed.
- Report all repairs and pest control needs, and any housekeeping-related violations by residents, guests, or staff.
- May perform minor maintenance tasks, such as changing bulbs, or more complex tasks including operating cleaning equipment such as buffers or waxers.
- Some experience with basic housekeeping duties, including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning carpets, cleaning bathrooms, and removal of trash.
- Ability to follow established policies and procedures and adhere to regulatory guidelines in daily work.
- Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a team, as well as written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Microsoft Outlook (email) and the ability to submit electronic timesheets are also required.
- Starting at $15.00 per hour, dependent on candidate qualifications and experience.
- This is a full-time position with UVA benefits, including 22 days of paid time off, increasing with service, 13+ paid holidays each year, in addition to paid time off, parental and community service leave, health plan with options to meet healthcare and financial needs, retirement through the Virginia Retirement System, tuition and professional development benefits, and employee wellness program featuring activities to earn up to $500/year.
The use of both hands and a repetitive motion will be required while performing duties as a housekeeper, such as dusting and mopping, etc. This job requires a range of continual movements, including walking, kneeling, squatting, bending, stooping, twisting, and lifting.
