PAGNY Licensed Practical Nurse Correctional Health Services Day Tour Float

Employed by New York City Health + Hospitals Correctional Health Services, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides high-quality patient care in a correctional setting. The LPN works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to deliver medical care, mental health care, and discharge planning to patients in the jail system.
Responsibilities:
• Maintains a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for patients
• Records patients' vital signs, including height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respirations, food/fluid input/output, etc.
• Assists with bathing, dressing, and personal hygiene of patients
• Assists with patient positioning, standing, walking, and transferring
• Collects samples of blood and/or urine for testing
• Performs routine laboratory tests as ordered
• Prepares, administers, and documents prescribed medications via the ordered route
• Reports adverse reactions to medications or treatments according to policy
• Provides patient education and support
• Maintains accurate and complete records of patient care
Requirements:
• LPN licensure in New York State
• Ability to work in a fast-paced correctional environment
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team
Working Conditions:
The LPN works in a correctional setting, which may involve exposure to infectious diseases and other health risks. The LPN must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
