Position Summary
The role involves managing intricate accounting tasks and responsibilities associated with government contracts, leveraging a comprehensive understanding of federal accounting standards, protocols, and practices. The candidate will identify and address compliance discrepancies or risks in collaboration with management to ensure resolution.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize accounting expertise to propose enhancements for financial and accounting processes.
- Develop and verify conceptual, preliminary, and final plans and specifications, including detailed program and project cost estimates, aligning with established governmental and client contractual obligations.
- Maintain compliance with rate packages.
- Ensure adherence to relevant standards (e.g., GAAP, FASB), regulations, and internal control systems.
- Facilitate customer and DCAA audit requests.
- Manage monthly invoicing for government grants.
- Assist in the rollout of new accounting policies, standards, and guidelines.
- Deliver precise, timely, and pertinent recording, reporting, and analysis of financial data.
- Identify opportunities for process enhancements and implement improvements.
- Collaborate closely with engineering and estimation teams for strategic initiatives.
- Perform additional related duties as required.
To excel in this position, candidates must effectively perform all essential duties. The following qualifications are indicative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required:
- Experience in cost build-ups and supplier development funding.
- Strong understanding of FAR regulations.
- Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with experience in accounting software.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication across the organization.
- Thorough knowledge of general ledger accounting and account reconciliation.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to thrive in a dynamic work environment.
- Experience in developing return on investment reports.
- Understanding of allowable and unallowable costs.
- Ensure compliance with all governmental guidelines and standards.
- Prior experience in managing government funding projects.
- Familiarity with government cost accounting rules and guidelines.
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited institution is required, along with 3-5 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Proficiency
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial documents, spreadsheets, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Capable of writing reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals. Proficient in presenting information and addressing inquiries from groups of managers and clients.
Mathematical Skills
Strong mathematical abilities and mechanical aptitude are essential. Requires proficient financial knowledge and business acumen.
Reasoning Skills
Must be capable of making sound business decisions and possess strong problem-solving skills. Requires analytical capabilities to define problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Travel Requirements
Minimal travel expected, approximately 10% or less.
