Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership: Provide mentorship and direction to a team of technical artists, promoting professional development and establishing quality benchmarks.
  • Pipeline Innovation: Collaborate with artistic and engineering teams to design and refine the character art pipeline, ensuring both efficiency and artistic fidelity.
  • Expertise in Unreal Engine: Create materials, shaders, blueprints, and systems for the integration and optimization of character assets within Unreal Engine.
  • Proficiency in Blender: Oversee standards for character modeling, rigging, and animation, with the potential to contribute directly to high-profile character assets.
  • Performance Enhancement: Actively identify and resolve performance issues related to character art and animation.
  • Innovative Problem Solving: Lead the charge in developing creative solutions to complex technical challenges within the art production pipeline.
  • Tool Development: Collaborate with engineering teams to create or improve in-house tools and scripts that streamline character development workflows.

Qualifications

  • Proven Experience: A minimum of 5 years as a Technical Artist in the gaming industry, with at least 2 years in a leadership or senior capacity.
  • Outstanding Portfolio: A portfolio showcasing technical expertise in character art and animation, with exceptional rigging and skinning capabilities.
  • Unreal Engine Mastery: Comprehensive knowledge of materials, blueprints, animation systems, lighting, and optimization techniques.
  • Blender Expertise: Strong understanding of modeling, texturing, rigging, and animation processes in Blender.
  • Optimization Skills: Demonstrated success in optimizing character art for real-time performance.
  • Analytical Mindset: Ability to assess complex challenges, formulate solutions, and collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Leadership and Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills to mentor, guide, and motivate a team.
