Job DescriptionJob Summary
The Senior District Nutrition Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing all patient/resident nutrition care activities, while ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies and client standards. This role requires a strong clinical background, with experience in managing nutrition programs and leading a team of healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement cost-effective, profit-generating nutrition programs that meet the needs of patients/residents.
- Function as a member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team to implement nutrition care plans and ensure optimal patient/resident outcomes.
- Establish and maintain policies, standards, and programs for the provision of optimal, cost-effective nutrition care to patients/residents.
- Coordinate and direct all clinical activities, including determining and implementing appropriate staffing levels.
- Assist in the performance planning process for dietitians and dietetic interns, and interview, select, and train employees within the Food and Nutrition Services.
- Participate in the budget process and ensure effective use of resources.
- Recognize and adopt activities appropriate to the specific needs of the patient/resident population, and demonstrate knowledge of specific issues directly related to age of patient/resident population.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other facility departments to provide a unified approach to patient/resident care.
- Develop, implement, and document in-service education programs for registered dietitians, dietetic interns, and other nutrition personnel, including hourly dietary staff.
- Engage in and encourage staff to participate in research, and submit to professional publications and professional and community lectures.
- Establish and maintain systems and training programs to provide a safe working environment.
- Maintain registration status through the Commission on Dietetic Registration and licensure through the state board.
- Maintain professional continuing education annually.
Requirements
- Requires at least 5-7 years of experience as a clinical dietitian.
- 3-5 years of supervisory experience preferred.
- Requires a bachelor's degree at an accredited institution with coursework accredited or approved by the appropriate nutrition and dietetics agencies.
- Earn and maintain applicable certifications, registrations, licenses, credentials, and continuing education requirements by the appropriate accredited local agencies.
- Formal eligibility to practice dietetics in geographic location where applicable.
Working Conditions
May include busy hospital and outpatient settings, from patient rooms/floors to kitchen/serving areas.
