**Position Overview: Office Adjuster**
Location: Waynesville, NC
Department: Claims
Reports To: District Claims Manager
**Role Summary**
The Office Adjuster is responsible for investigating, assessing, and negotiating settlements for various types of claims, including workers' compensation, collision, automobile, and property damage. Communication is primarily conducted via telephone and written correspondence.
**Essential Qualifications**
A four-year degree or equivalent business experience is required. Knowledge of legal principles is advantageous, along with strong oral and written communication skills. The ability to manage interactions with clients in high-pressure situations is essential. Compliance with continuing education requirements set forth by the N.C. Department of Insurance and Ncfbins is mandatory.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Apply policy provisions to reported claims.
- Initiate contact with insured parties or claimants promptly upon receipt of loss notifications.
- Assess damages in collaboration with field adjusters, appraisers, and other relevant professionals.
- Establish and maintain accurate reserves for claims.
- Evaluate legal liability and determine appropriate compensation for losses.
- Document detailed notes regarding the adjustment process.
- Prepare dictated reports as required.
- Adhere to a work schedule as determined by the District Claims Manager.
- Facilitate the payment or denial of claims.
- Support the District Claims Manager in overall claims operations.
**Qualifications for Senior Office Adjuster**
Recommendations from the District Claims Manager and Regional Claims Manager are necessary. Candidates should have a minimum of five years of experience in roles such as Claims Representative, Field Adjuster, or Office Claims Representative within the organization. Successful completion of all sections for the Associate in Claims (AIC) designation and relevant courses offered by the Insurance Institute of America is required. Candidates must also pass assessments on company-specific contracts and general claims knowledge.
