We are seeking a skilled Cook to join our team at MelroseWakefield Hospital, part of the Tufts Medicine system. As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing meals for staff and visitors, adhering to the hospital's standards of accuracy, quantity, appearance, and quality.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and cook a variety of hot and cold food items for various meal periods, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special events.
- Follow recipes and production sheets to ensure accurate and efficient food preparation.
- Practice accepted HACCP food production and food handling principles to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment.
- Review menus and prepare food items in advance, storing them appropriately to ensure timely delivery.
- Operate kitchen equipment to measure and mix ingredients, wash, peel, cut, and shred fruits and vegetables, and trim and cut meat, poultry, or fish for culinary use.
- Taste products, read menus, estimate food requirements, check production, and keep records to accurately plan production requirements and requisition supplies and equipment.
- Ensure the uninterrupted supply of food to the service area, planning and preparing ahead for menu substitutions as necessary in consultation with department leadership.
- One (1) year of related experience in a food services environment or restaurant.
- Training in an apprenticeship program, vocation, or cooking school.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- ServSafe certification.
