Job Overview:

The Culinary Service Team Member plays a vital role in the daily management of the deli and foodservice operations, ensuring exceptional cleanliness, store presentation, and customer satisfaction while following company standards and protocols. This position is ideal for individuals who possess a genuine enthusiasm for food and a commitment to serving customers.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Exhibiting a positive and welcoming demeanor towards customers and team members.
  • Interacting with customers through friendly greetings, providing product knowledge, offering suggestions, and engaging in active sampling while expressing sincere gratitude.
  • Prioritizing prompt and courteous customer service.
  • Handling cash register transactions accurately, including giving change and processing refunds.
  • Utilizing scale printers to ensure accurate weights and pricing.
  • Monitoring product pricing, signage, and placement, as well as utilizing shelf tags and signage effectively.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized sales counter and production areas.
  • Preparing, packaging, weighing, slicing, and stocking deli products, ensuring proper rotation for quality and safety.
  • Cooking and preparing various deli items, including fried foods, salads, sandwiches, and beverages.
  • Working safely with sharp tools and hot equipment.
  • Presenting products in accordance with merchandising guidelines.
  • Taking and fulfilling customer orders promptly and to their satisfaction.
  • Performing additional tasks as assigned by the Store Manager.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Candidates must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Availability to work weekends, holidays, and evening shifts as needed.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license are necessary.
  • Serv-Safe certification is preferred.
  • A willingness to learn about new products and recipes.
  • A passion for food and creativity in presentation.
  • Maintaining a helpful, respectful, and courteous attitude at all times.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively, often with minimal supervision.
  • Basic math skills for transactions and inventory management.
  • Familiarity with registers, scales, scanners, and payment terminals.
  • Ability to read and understand UPC codes, product labels, and company policies.
  • Knowledge of a variety of deli products and their ingredients.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal.
  • Ability to listen and respond to customer and team member needs.
  • Experience working with various food ingredients, including meats, vegetables, and spices.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
  • Capability to reach above shoulder height and bend at the waist.
  • Comfortable working in coolers and freezers.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive motions.
  • Dexterity to operate necessary equipment safely.
