Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled Linux System Engineer to lead our migration efforts from VMware to Proxmox. This role is crucial for enhancing our infrastructure and ensuring seamless operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Migration Strategy: Formulate and implement a comprehensive plan for transitioning from VMware to Proxmox while minimizing service interruptions.
  • System Administration: Set up and manage Proxmox VE, ensuring optimal performance of both Proxmox and Linux servers.
  • Integration: Facilitate the integration of Proxmox with existing VMware systems throughout the migration process.
  • Monitoring: Employ monitoring solutions such as Prometheus and Grafana to oversee system health and performance.
Documentation & Reporting:

Maintain thorough documentation of migration procedures, configurations, and operational guidelines.

Essential Qualifications:
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Linux operating systems (e.g., Ubuntu, CentOS, Red Hat) and virtualization technologies.
  • Extensive experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter.
  • Strong command of Proxmox VE management, including installation and ongoing maintenance.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools and systems (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios).
  • Proven track record in migrating from VMware to Proxmox, including VM data handling.
  • Strong troubleshooting and scripting abilities (Bash, Python).
Soft Skills:
  • Exceptional problem-solving and communication capabilities.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., RHCE, VCP, Proxmox).
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure.
