Job Summary

The City of Alexandria, LA is seeking a skilled Custodial Worker to perform various cleaning and maintenance activities in and around public facilities. This role is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and safety of city buildings and grounds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform general cleaning tasks, including dusting, vacuuming, and washing of fixtures, furnishings, windows, and walls.
  • Remove and dispose of waste, and wax and polish floors.
  • Clean restrooms and replenish restroom supplies.
  • Request and handle the storage of janitorial equipment and supplies.
  • Maintain the grounds of city buildings, including mowing grass, trimming edges, and raking leaves.
  • Perform minor maintenance and repair tasks, such as changing light bulbs and unstopping sinks and toilets.
  • Prepare facilities for meetings and events, including setting up and erecting equipment and fixtures.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Some experience in janitorial or custodial work is preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
