Job Summary:

Western Kentucky University (WKU) is seeking a part-time teacher aide to assist Classroom Teachers with activities and child supervision. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED and be physically capable of lifting up to 40 pounds.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Classroom Teachers with daily activities, including meals, toileting, rest time, outside play, field trips, and other learning center activities.
  • Support small or large groups, or individual interaction, as needed.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Physical capability to lift up to 40 pounds

Additional Information:

  • Must enroll in a Child Development Associate (CDA) program and complete credential requirements within one year of hiring, or enroll in an Early Childhood Education program and obtain an Associate of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education within four years of hiring.
  • A criminal background check, TB skin test, and general health/physical examination are required prior to entrance into the classroom.

Working Conditions:

The part-time teacher aide will work approximately 25 hours per week, with center hours from 7:30am to 5:30pm. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain confidentiality.
