Regional Psychiatrist: Department of Corrections

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Regional Psychiatrist to join our team at the Department of Corrections. As a key member of our mental health team, you will provide psychiatric assessment and treatment to mentally ill inmates, working closely with interdisciplinary treatment teams to develop and implement effective treatment plans.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and develop treatment plans for mentally ill inmates
- Prescribe and manage medication, as well as provide mechanical measures to assist inmates in improving their behavior
- Collaborate with treatment teams to develop and implement treatment plans, and provide supervision to psychiatric providers at the institution
- Provide mental health services to inmates, including individual and group therapy sessions
- Graduate from an accredited medical school and completion of an approved psychiatric residency program
- Licensed to practice medicine in the state of Virginia, with an M.D. or D.O. degree
- Extensive knowledge of mental health principles and practices, as well as professional and ethical standards of practice
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations
- Specialty in forensic or addiction care
- Board certification in psychiatry
- Experience providing mental health care in a correctional setting
