Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Maintenance Technician to join our team at the City of New Orleans, LA. As a key member of our utility systems team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to water distribution, wastewater collections, and meter repairs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform maintenance and repair activities on water distribution and wastewater collection systems
  • Conduct inspections and tests to ensure system integrity and safety
  • Operate and maintain equipment and vehicles related to utility systems
  • Collaborate with other team members to achieve departmental goals and objectives
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance plans to minimize downtime and optimize system performance
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid Louisiana Class A Commercial Driver's License required
  • Four years of maintenance and/or construction experience in utility water distributions, utility wastewater collections systems, or related experience required
  • Permanent status with the Sewerage and Water Board or equivalent experience required
  • Successful completion of the Sewerage and Water Board's structured on-the-job training (OJT) program for Networks Senior Maintenance Technician I required
  • Completion of the following courses offered by the Civil Service Employee Growth and Development Division: Basic Math for Utilities Supervisors, Human Relations, Techniques of Good Customer Service, Effective People Skills, Introduction to Supervision, and Conflict Management

The successful candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a team, and must be able to communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
