Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Collections Specialist to join our team at Progressive Spine & Orthopaedics, LLC. As a key member of our collections team, you will be responsible for managing collection activities and resolving delinquencies in a timely and professional manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Negotiate payment of current and past due accounts through direct communication with patients and insurance companies.
  • Initiate correspondence regarding delinquency status and update customer account information.
  • Identify and monitor potential problem accounts to prevent further delinquency.
  • Utilize collection techniques to resolve accounts according to company policies and procedures.
  • Research and resolve invoice discrepancies through active interaction with customers, sales, and other departments.
  • Prepare and mail credit memos and duplicate payment letters as needed.
  • Resolve short payments within departmental policies and procedures.
  • Perform detailed account reconciliations to resolve complex disputed receivable issues.
  • Communicate account status to patients and management on a regular basis.
  • Prepare monthly client account analysis summaries.
  • Recommend collection strategies and efforts to improve delinquency rates.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree or equivalent, one to two years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages.
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow.
  • Acute attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
  • Ability to perform diversified clerical functions and basic accounting procedures.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds.
  • Bilingual skills a plus.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
