MRI Technologist Position

Midstate Radiology Associates is seeking a skilled Diagnostic Imaging Specialist to join our team at Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain, CT. This part-time position involves working on-site in New Britain, CT, and remotely scanning for multiple office locations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate off-site equipment and perform diagnostic and therapeutic MRI procedures on patients according to established protocols to assist the physician in diagnosis and treatment.
- Follow established policies and procedures set by the department, hospital, state, ACR, TJC, and OSHA.
- Maintain the MRI equipment in good operating order and report any hazardous conditions or equipment breakdowns to the supervisor.
- Assess physician's orders and patient requisitions for completeness and ensure the correct procedure and protocol are performed.
- Document pertinent patient and exam information and store computerized images onto an archive media for future reference or retrieval.
- Prepare examinations for interpretation by the radiologist, including correct identification and processing, and accurately input data in the RIS.
- Perform and document weekly quality assurance testing on equipment according to established protocols.
- Work effectively as a team member within the department and with other units to provide quality service through communication, cooperation, and collaboration.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of an AMA-approved radiology program.
- Registered with the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT).
- ARRT MRI certification.
- CT state license.
- CPR certification may be required.
- Maintenance of continuing education credits as required by licensure.
- At least five years' experience as an MRI technologist.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's or Applied Science degree in a related field.
Working Knowledge:
- Applicable to radiological technology with specific references to anatomy, medical and surgical disease, and scientific principles as applied to radiological technology.
- Patient care standards and requirements.
- Quality assurance principles and practices.
- Customer service principles and practices.
- OSHA principles and practices.
- TJC standards of practice.
Skills and Abilities:
- Operate MRI equipment, including GE, Siemens, and Hitachi MRI equipment.
- Responsible for scanning multiple patients concurrently.
- Schedule, organize, and monitor patient flow to meet company productivity, quality, health, and safety standards independently.
- Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, medical staff, and co-workers.
- Communicate effectively and coordinate with local MRI staff regarding all aspects of direct patient care.
- Maintain the confidentiality of patient records.
- Schedule, organize, and complete work in accordance with required workloads independently.
- Read, interpret, and follow internal quality standards and government regulations.
- Understand and follow specifications and instructions.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergencies.
Special Conditions:
- May be required to rotate on night, weekend, and/or holiday call schedule.
- May be required to cover ancillary offices, as needed.
