Job Opportunity: Postdoctoral Researcher, Center for Zoonomics

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced postdoctoral researcher to join our team at the Center for Zoonomics, a cross-disciplinary center dedicated to advancing our understanding of zoonotic diseases and promoting conservation through innovative research.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-depth bioinformatic analysis to identify genetic markers associated with heritable diseases in managed captive or wild populations of various taxa.
  • Evaluate deleterious variation and analyze heritability of heart disease in zoo and wildlife species.
  • Design results for population managers and contribute to the development of conservation strategies.
  • Collaborate with a transdisciplinary team of researchers and veterinarians to advance our understanding of zoonotic diseases.

Requirements:

  • PhD in statistical, population genetics, or conservation genomics (or equivalent).
  • Proficiency in genomic data analysis and interpretation of genetic variation.
  • Experience with R, a Unix computing environment, and knowledge of at least one scripting language.
  • Familiarity with next-generation DNA sequencing data and human or animal heritable disease or pathogens.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Track record of consistent publication.
  • Strong organizational, written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a transdisciplinary team.
