Job Summary

The Lakeville Area Schools is seeking a highly qualified Special Education Supervisor to provide instructional and programmatic leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality special education programming and services to students in assigned high schools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support special education staff in assigned schools in the selection, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based and evidence-informed instructional practices.
  • Assist IEP teams to develop and implement high-quality, standards-based special education services that result in meaningful student outcomes.
  • Support classroom teachers and special education teachers in IEP implementation, instructional leadership for co-teaching, and resolving classroom academic issues and behavioral concerns.
  • Lead professional development on topics, trends, and best practices in special education.
  • Serve as a district representative at IEP meetings for students in assigned schools and/or served outside the district.
  • Provide day-to-day support of special education students, including assisting with student discipline issues, creating student schedules, and being aware of student attendance and truancy information.
  • Employ data-informed decision-making techniques to drive student improvement and facilitate collaborative relationships among parents, school personnel, and representatives of other agencies and organizations.
Requirements
  • Prefers a current Minnesota Director of Special Education license or enrollment in coursework towards licensure.
  • Master's degree in Special Education field.
  • Two or more years of experience developing, implementing, and evaluating special programs and working with students with low incidence disabilities.
  • Group facilitation and conflict resolution training and experience.
  • Experience with general education curriculum and differentiated instruction at the grade levels in assigned school(s).
  • Experience training and coaching special educators in the implementation of evidence-based strategies aligned to IEP needs.
  • Ability to establish collaborative relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
