Cimarron is seeking an experienced Instrumentation Technician to join our team in Decatur, AL. As an Instrumentation Technician, you will be responsible for installing strain gauges on composite test articles in accordance with instrumentation drawings.
Key Responsibilities:- Interpret instrumentation drawings and install strain gauge sensors on composite test articles.
- Inspect strain gauges to ensure they are in good health and solder and route wires from strain gauges.
- Perform continuity testing to ensure gauges are soldered correctly and troubleshoot and repair damaged gauges as needed.
- Document work performed for each day and coordinate with management to establish work priorities.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Ability to pass a physical examination to meet production certification and safety requirements.
- Experience with soldering small components and understanding of the purpose of strain gauges.
- Previous experience in cable routing/management and ability to interpret engineering drawings derived from models.
- General shop skills, including Foreign Object Debris (FOD) prevention, material handling, safety, electrostatic discharge (ESD), and contamination control.
- Knowledge and proficiency in a variety of measuring instruments, including micrometers, meters, calipers, and multimeters.
- Ability to work in a team environment and perform duties in an agile environment.
- General knowledge of production quality systems and requirements in daily operations.
- Well-versed in safety regulations, including identifying, reporting, and correcting safety issues.
- 1 or more year(s) of related experience and high school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience installing strain gauges and experience conducting wire harness installation tests.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and methods and ability to apply knowledge to streamline operations and eliminate waste.
- Previous electrical and wire harness certification to NASA standard.
