We are seeking a skilled Assembly Technician to join our team at General Dynamics Mission Systems. As an Assembly Technician, you will be responsible for building and wiring production assemblies, repairing and replacing hardware, and assisting in the development of future production assemblies.
Key Responsibilities- Build and wire production assemblies, including solder and wire, fiber optics, and similar assembly efforts.
- Repair and replace hardware as needed.
- Assist in the development of future production assemblies.
- Operate various computer programs related to their position for time recording, access to shop planning, and business instructions.
- Read, interpret, and work from drawings, schematics, wiring lists, and diagrams, work instructions, sketches, travelers, planning, and verbal directions.
- Perform related duties as required and have the ability to perform all duties of R-16 Job Classification.
- Set up and maintain workstation and related materials, including set up of solder and cleaning stations, control of age-controlled items, and hazardous materials and consumables.
- Perform material identification and paint touch-up.
- May give work direction/training to other employees as assigned.
- May perform verification of other employee's work.
- Maintain the work area and perform duties in a safe manner.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- Related experience and/or training are desirable.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratios, percent, and interpret graphs.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively with other employees of the organization.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to question instructions when they are unclear.
