Job Summary

Atlas is a leading provider of civil engineering, materials testing, and geotechnical consulting services for environmental, industrial, and infrastructure construction projects. As a Special Inspector, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with building standards and project specifications at construction sites across the Tri-State Area (NJ, NY, PA).

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily observations of construction sites to ensure compliance with building codes and project specifications.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications to identify potential issues.
  • Prepare detailed written reports detailing findings, observations, and test results.
  • Conduct Special Inspections related to Reinforced Concrete, Structural Masonry, Spray-Applied Fireproofing, and Firestopping.
  • Implement Atlas' Think 12 safety philosophy and follow our Corporate Health and Safety policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Ability to work some weekends and occasional overtime.
  • Capability to document, prepare, and submit observation data, time, and expense data using a smartphone or tablet computer.
  • Ability to clearly provide and receive detailed information through oral communication.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Successful completion of background and motor vehicle record check.
  • Ability to follow Construction Site Safety Precautions.

Technical Requirements

  • Preference given to candidates who are actively registered with one or more of the following technical credentials:
  • ACI Concrete Construction Special Inspector
  • ICC Soils Special Inspector
  • ICC Reinforced Concrete Special Inspector
  • ICC Structural Masonry Special Inspector
  • ICC Spray-applied Fireproofing Special Inspector
  • NJDCA Special Inspector License (Any Category)

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, move, push, and pull 30 to 50 pounds frequently. Occasionally, over 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to occasionally kneel and squat.

Compensation

$30-$50 per hour
