UPMC Life Changing Medicine is seeking a full-time Surgical Technologist to support our CVOR team.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team of dedicated healthcare professionals in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. As a Surgical Technologist at UPMC, you will be responsible for preparing patients for surgery, assisting the surgical team, and maintaining a safe and clean operating room.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare patients for surgery by setting up surgical instruments and equipment, sterile drapes, and sterile solutions.
  • Assist the surgical team with putting on sterile gowns and gloves.
  • Pass instruments and other sterile supplies to surgeons and surgeon assistants during surgery.
  • Help count sponges, needles, supplies, and instruments.
  • Ensure all medications are labeled and handed to the surgeon according to established policies and procedures.
  • After surgery, help transfer patients to the recovery room and clean and restock the operating room.

Requirements:

  • Must have completed a program sponsored by a nationally recognized institutional OR programmatic accreditation and maintains certification.
  • Continuing education requirements: Compliance with continuing ed requirements specified by the credentialing organization for certification.
