Job Title: Welding Lathe Operator

At SMS group Inc., we are seeking a skilled Welding Lathe Operator to join our team. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for setting up and operating welding lathes to weld steel or stainless steel on rolls, journals, and other components.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate welding lathes to weld steel or stainless steel on rolls, journals, and other components.
  • Monitor temperature of rolls and adjust heat as required.
  • Perform arc welding or burning as needed.
  • Place rolls in furnace, start and operate furnace, and identify roll on heat chart.
  • Perform minor maintenance repairs on equipment.
  • Keep work area, tools, and equipment clean and orderly.
  • Utilize crane and material handling equipment.
  • Be a safety-minded worker who is drug-free, dependable, and able to maintain an excellent attendance record.

Requirements:

  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a Drug Screen, Physical Capacity Profile Test, and Background Check.
  • Education: High School/Equivalent.
  • Valid Driver's License Required.
  • Must be able to work overtime.
  • Must be able to work night shift.
