Job Description

General Purpose of Job:

We are seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic Swim Instructor to join our team at the Michigan Athletic Club. As a Swim Instructor, you will be responsible for providing high-quality swim lessons to members and non-members of the club, following American Red Cross guidelines.

Essential Duties:

  • Develop and implement lesson plans in accordance with Level teaching standards.
  • Assess student progress and adjust lesson plans accordingly.
  • Identify and correct incorrect swimming techniques.
  • Prepare report cards for each student in class.
  • Communicate directly with parents regarding student progress or concerns.
  • Schedule private lessons in advance and ensure proper payment is collected.
  • Complete attendance, progress, and incident reports in a timely manner.
  • Communicate concerns, incidents, program needs, equipment, or supply needs with the Youth Programs Supervisor.
  • Attend in-service trainings and staff meetings.
  • Maintain equipment and ensure it is in good working condition.
  • Demonstrate the MAC customer service model and SparrowICARE values.
Job Requirements

General Requirements:

  • Must complete CPR certification within 60 days of hire.

Work Experience:

  • Prior work as a Swim Instructor or Lifeguard, Water Safety Instructor certification preferred.

Education:

  • HS Diploma/GED.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong swimming ability, knowledge of proper swimming techniques, and water safety rules.
  • Must enjoy working with children, motivating, patient, and enthusiastic.
