Position Overview:
The organization is seeking a seasoned Controller with a robust background in financial management within the asset management sector, particularly in real estate private equity.

Key Responsibilities:
1. **Monthly Financial Oversight** - Evaluate GAAP-compliant financial statements for the Funds' real estate assets, conducting budget versus actual variance analysis and monitoring property cash flows. Ensure meticulous handling of critical financial elements such as mortgages and taxes.
2. **Quarterly Reporting** - Collaborate with the fund administrator to prepare and review GAAP-compliant quarterly reports for investors, adhering to the guidelines set forth in partnership agreements, including expense allocations and waterfall calculations.
3. **Performance Analysis** - Generate and scrutinize various Fund and property-level performance metrics; present findings and discuss outcomes with the CFO and Executive Team. Assist in financial forecasting, modeling, and sensitivity analyses, while contributing to the quarterly valuation process.
4. **Management of Fees and Distributions** - Calculate management fees, oversee capital calls, and manage distributions and carry calculations for the Funds and associated co-investments. Handle cash management and credit facility loan draw requests, ensuring compliance with related obligations.
5. **Audit and Tax Compliance** - Supervise year-end audits and tax compliance, coordinating with fund administrators, auditors, and tax preparers. Ensure all phases of the annual financial audit are executed smoothly, including the organization of audit work papers and the review of externally prepared tax returns.
6. **Regulatory Compliance** - Assist in the preparation of SEC compliance reports and internal documentation, while interfacing with operating partners managing daily property operations. Address audit and reporting requests from Limited Partners (LPs) and perform additional tasks as assigned by the Firm's Principals and CFO.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA designation preferred.
- 8-10 years of experience in fund accounting, with a preference for real estate finance.
- Strong foundation in GAAP accounting, including fair value accounting principles.
- Familiarity with tax regulations is advantageous.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel/Office and QuickBooks, with a quick learning ability for new accounting and reporting software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a detail-oriented approach and exceptional organizational abilities. Must be capable of working independently and collaboratively with small teams and external service providers, demonstrating integrity and sound judgment in all tasks.
Compensation:
The compensation for this role will be determined based on various factors, including the candidate's experience, skill set, and other relevant considerations. The estimated salary range for this position is $180K - $200K, with eligibility for discretionary bonuses.
