Key Responsibilities

  • Emergency Response
    • Respond to security emergencies and alarms in a timely and effective manner.
    • Control and oversee calls for assistance, taking action to mitigate situations and reduce injury or property damage.
    • Investigate incidents and prepare written reports.
  • Property Security
    • Patrool and secure Allina Health properties, identifying and escalating threats and risks to ensure the safety and security of people and property.
    • Monitor critical building security systems, including cameras, alarms, access control, and weapons detection screening systems.
    • Maintain and operate equipment, including radios, emergency vehicles, and TASERs.
  • Enforcement and Compliance
    • Enforce criminal ordinances and administrative policies, making citizen arrests as necessary.
    • Partner with law enforcement and other community partners to ensure compliance and safety.
  • Customer Service
    • Provide education and support to internal customers to mitigate personal safety risks in and out of the workplace.
    • Serve as a liaison to internal partners, community partners, and other customers.
  • Other Duties
    • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age and meet required functional competencies.
  • Completion of an Associate's or Vocational degree or other post-secondary education.
  • In lieu of degree requirement, experience in security, law enforcement, military, or related field may be considered.

Licenses and Certifications

  • BLS Tier 1 - Basic Life Support - Multisource required within 60 days.
  • Valid Driver's License required upon hire.
  • International Association for Hospital Safety and Security (IAHSS) certification preferred.
  • OSHA First Responder certification preferred.
  • Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) certification preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Very Heavy Work:
  • Lifting weight in excess of 100 lbs. occasionally, over 50 lbs. frequently.
