Job Summary

Mercy Hospital Springfield is seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our Cardiothoracic Operating Room team. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures, providing direct patient care, and maintaining a sterile environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pre-Operative Preparation: Efficiently set up surgical cases, providing equipment and supplies based on patient needs and surgeon preference.
  • Perioperative Care: Provide direct patient care under the direct supervision of the surgeon and circulating Registered Nurse, consistent with established standards of practice.
  • Instrument and Supply Management: Maintain a sterile field, perform instrument, sponge, and sharp counts, and assist other OR staff per patient safety and direct patient care policies.
  • Education and Training: Function as a resource person for newly hired Surgical Technicians and students of visiting Surgical Technology schools.
  • Additional Duties: Perform related duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in Surgical Technology or related field preferred.
  • Experience: 1 year plus CVOR Surgical Technologist experience in a hospital setting; 1 year cardiothoracic experience, needs open heart experience.
  • Certifications: CORST, CST, or TSC certification required; BLS from AHA certification required.
