Position Summary:
The Occupational Therapist Assistant will deliver skilled therapeutic interventions and treatments to patients in their homes under the supervision of a Registered Occupational Therapist. Responsibilities include implementing treatment plans, monitoring patient progress, and educating patients and their families for successful discharge.
Qualifications:
- Must be licensed as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in the state of practice.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in the field is required.
Key Responsibilities:
The individual in this role will be expected to:
- Execute occupational therapy services as per the physician's treatment plan, which is developed and overseen by the Registered Occupational Therapist.
- Utilize orthotic devices as prescribed based on the client's specific conditions and requirements.
- Engage clients in therapeutic activities aimed at restoring functionality and enhancing self-care skills under the guidance of the Occupational Therapist.
- Document and communicate the client's responses to treatment and any notable changes in their condition to the supervising OT or Clinical Manager.
- Assist in educating clients, families, and other healthcare personnel on exercise programs designed to strengthen and control the client's upper extremities.
- Collaborate with the Occupational Therapist and other staff to facilitate educational sessions when necessary.
- Demonstrate and instruct clients in alternative techniques for daily living activities, including safe transfer and positioning methods.
- Support the Occupational Therapist in the procurement and/or customization of adaptive devices and equipment.
- Participate in client care meetings and initiate discussions for complex cases to ensure effective care coordination.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of client care progress in compliance with agency policies.
- Stay informed about current trends and advancements in occupational therapy.
- Engage in professional development through in-service training programs.
