Job Summary

As a Radiologic Imaging Specialist at Uvalde Memorial Hospital, you will be responsible for performing radiographic imaging procedures, including Dexa scans. Your duties will include preparing patients, conducting procedures, and processing exams for radiologic interpretation. You will work closely with the Radiology Director and other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality patient care.

Essential Functions
  • Instruct and prepare patients for roentgenographic examinations, ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • Select and operate appropriate equipment for procedures, maintaining a high level of technical proficiency.
  • Determine the most suitable anatomical posture and positions for patients, shielding them as necessary.
  • Collaborate with physicians to assess and manage patient pain, minimizing its impact on procedures.
  • Program and operate stationary equipment, producing high-quality images for various examinations.
  • Perform quality control checks on equipment and maintain logs, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Obtain and store permanent records of internal examinations through examination images of organs.
  • Transfer and retrieve images from the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) as requested.
  • Maintain a clean and organized procedure room, making minor equipment adjustments as needed.
  • Compile and maintain quality assurance information for the Texas Department of State Health Services.
  • Adhere to proper equipment usage, following manufacturer instructions and guidelines.
  • Produce high-quality imaging consistent with prescribed examinations, exercising discretion and supervision under the Radiology Medical Director.
Position Requirements
  • Minimum Education: Limited Medical Radiologic Technician (LMRT) license through the Texas Medical Board.
  • Current BLS for healthcare providers' certification.
  • Certificate from an Accredited Radiology Technology Program.
  • Required Skills:
    • Superior ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service.
    • High degree of organization and ability to multitask efficiently and effectively.
    • Advanced computer knowledge, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
Functional Demands

The job requires sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending, squatting, and reaching. Good finger dexterity, repetitive motions with hands and fingers, and good vision and hearing are necessary. Pushing and pulling equipment may be required. Heavy lifting may be necessary on an occasional basis.
