The Construction Splicer is a critical member of the Windstream team, responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing fiber optic cables in both outdoor and indoor settings. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

• Splice fiber optic and copper cables, including loose tube and ribbon optic cables, using hand tools, epoxy, or mechanical equipment as required.
• Construct proper splice cases, including grounding, bonding, isolation, slack storage, and sealing.
• Prepare and maintain splicing records, schematics, and diagrams.
• Understand staking sheets and blueprints, and perform work in accordance with industry standards.
• Measure signal strength at utility poles using electronic test equipment.
• Inspect or test lines or cables, recording and analyzing test results to assess transmission characteristics and locate faults or malfunctions.
• Perform routine maintenance, including recognizing and repairing route issues, such as hand hole cleanup, sign placement, and weed control.
• Participate in engineering, permit, and construction processes to support project contracts.

• Ability to lift/push/pull up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions, year-round.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
• Ability to work an on-call schedule rotation, as well as days/nights/overnights/weekends/holidays/overtime, as needed.
• Valid driver's license.
• Minimum qualifications to obtain a CDL post-hire.
• Ability to pass DOT certification pre-hire.
• Ability to travel up to 50%.

• Pole climbing experience.
• OSHA 10 Hour Safety Course and Buck Squeeze (Pole Climbing Certifications).
• Proficient at operating various construction equipment.

The Construction Splicer will be required to stand continuously, walk continuously, and sit occasionally. The job will also require driving a van, climbing, bending, crouching, pushing/pulling, carrying, reaching above head, lifting/lowering, and repetitive hand action.

The Construction Splicer will be exposed to cold, heat, dampness, heights, vibration, skin irritants, and lung irritants, including dust and fumes/gases.

The Construction Splicer will use test equipment, ladders, climbing hooks, hand and power tools, vans, buried power equipment, and other applicable heavy-duty equipment.
