Automation Controls Engineer

Our expertise lies in producing pre-painted aluminum, carbon, and stainless steel using advanced techniques such as two-coat, single coat, thin film, and striped coatings. We handle coils of steel and aluminum that can weigh up to 10,000 lbs and are 28" wide, ensuring that these materials meet the diverse needs of our customers, ranging from architectural panels to automotive components.
Position Summary:
We are looking for a proficient and meticulous PLC Controls Engineer to take on critical responsibilities in design, programming, and technical support for Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). This role also involves troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing our sophisticated machinery and equipment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is preferred; technical certification or an associate degree in a relevant discipline is acceptable.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial engineering.
- Proficiency in PLC and HMI systems, particularly with Rockwell Automation and/or Siemens.
- Experience with Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) and servo controls, especially with Rockwell Automation and/or Siemens.
- Familiarity with industrial networking and interface technologies.
- Experience with HMI and SCADA software from Rockwell Automation, Siemens, or similar platforms.
- Skilled in maintaining and troubleshooting electrical systems and machinery.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics and blueprints.
- Capable of diagnosing and resolving complex electrical and mechanical challenges.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with functional machine safety and risk assessment processes.
- Knowledge of machine vision systems and data collection technologies such as bar code and RFID.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical issues promptly.
- Collaborate with maintenance personnel to develop and implement effective maintenance strategies.
- Maintain thorough documentation of maintenance activities, including repairs and tests conducted.
- Adhere to all safety protocols to ensure a secure working environment.
- Assist in the training and development of junior technicians as necessary.
- Stay informed about the latest advancements in PLC controls and maintenance technologies.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift weights up to 50 pounds.
- Capability to climb stairs, ladders, and scaffolding as required.
- Comfortable working in confined spaces and at elevated heights.
- Willingness to work occasional evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed.
