Job Summary

This is a Direct Hire Public Notice for a Physical Scientist position in the National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS). The selected candidate will work in the Office of Satellite & Product Operations (OSPO), Satellite Products and Services Division (SPSD), Direct Services Branch (DSB) in Suitland, MD.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement products and services project plans that meet cost, schedule, and performance criteria.
  • Provide quality assurance of satellite products and services, evaluating system performance and providing corrective or adaptive maintenance.
  • Serve as the product or services area lead for an existing portfolio of environmental satellite products, environmental products from new satellite missions, or satellite services.
  • Present effective technical presentations to a diverse audience, including senior management officials, partners, and customers.
Requirements
  • A degree in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service, including developing and implementing long-range plans for data collection or data management systems, presenting technical presentations, and providing customer support for operational products and services.
Working Conditions

The selected candidate may be required to support COOP operations and perform the duties of an emergency employee.

This position is not in the bargaining unit and requires a background investigation and favorable adjudication.
