Job Summary:

The Kitsap Mental Health Services Community is seeking a skilled Behavioral Health Counselor to join our multidisciplinary team. As a Behavioral Health Counselor, you will provide treatment, rehabilitation, and support services to program clients, while demonstrating clinical skill and experience to plan, develop, coordinate, and provide services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide counseling, care coordination, and case management services for assigned clients, including individual, group, family counseling, crisis intervention, and case management.
  • Develop, write, implement, evaluate, and revise overall treatment goals and plans in collaboration with clients and internal providers.
  • Educate and support clients' families and advocate for clients' rights and preferences.
  • Consult with families and community agencies to maintain coordination in the treatment process.
  • Assist clients in finding and effectively using primary care physicians and dentists, and develop health self-management skills.
  • Provide crisis intervention counseling and coordinate with crisis services when appropriate.
  • Document client progress according to established policies and procedures.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, social services, or a related field.
  • Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle report and reliable, insured transportation.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in co-occurring disorders treatment, individual and group therapy, vocational services, or substance abuse treatment.

Performance Requirements:
  • Maintain a working knowledge of current trends in community mental health, including health care reform and automation of job tasks using computer technology.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of mental health rehabilitation standards.

Work Environment:

Frequent mobility and/or sitting required for extended periods of time.
