Position Overview:

The Buyer plays a vital role in overseeing supplier relationships, managing orders, and ensuring the timely acquisition of goods and services essential for operations. This position is integral to the procurement process, focusing on both direct and indirect materials required by the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Guarantee the availability of materials to fulfill production requirements, supporting manufacturing through Just In Time (JIT) practices and vendor-managed inventory (VMI).
  2. Execute purchasing tasks including material quoting, contract negotiations, and processing purchase orders.
  3. Analyze demand trends and forecasts to optimize purchasing quantities and schedules.
  4. Maintain effective communication with suppliers to relay manufacturing forecasts and manage supply chain operations.
  5. Drive process improvements by contributing innovative ideas and participating in continuous improvement initiatives.
  6. Collaborate with the Corporate Strategic Procurement Team to enhance sourcing strategies and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  7. Support new product development and initiatives aimed at cost reduction.
  8. Monitor supplier performance through established metrics and provide feedback to enhance service delivery.
  9. Establish strong vendor partnerships to meet objectives related to cost, quality, and delivery timelines.
  10. Conduct market research to stay informed on pricing trends and technological advancements relevant to procurement.
  11. Ensure data integrity within purchasing systems, maintaining accurate records of lead times, safety stock levels, and supplier information.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field is strongly preferred.

Experience: A minimum of two years in a purchasing role, with familiarity in ERP/MRP systems being essential. Experience in manufacturing and indirect purchasing is advantageous.

Skills: The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, possess strong analytical skills, and demonstrate effective communication abilities. A solid understanding of supply chain management principles and Lean methodologies is preferred.

Work Environment: This role involves sedentary work with extended periods of computer use, alongside occasional tasks in a warehouse or manufacturing setting.

Travel Requirements: Minimal travel may be required.
