Life Pacific University (LPU) is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time faculty role within the Department of Counseling & Psychology, part of the School of Arts & Sciences (SAS). This department oversees the Bachelor of Arts in Human Development & Psychology (HDP) and the Master of Arts in Counseling (MAC). For nearly a century, Life Pacific University has been dedicated to educating a diverse student population for service in various fields, including the Church and the broader community. We are looking for a faculty member who is passionate about this mission and eager to engage with our students and community.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The anticipated start date for this full-time position is in the summer. While professional licenses are advantageous, they are not mandatory. The role primarily involves teaching undergraduate courses in the HDP program, supporting the department chair with program-related tasks, assessments, internships, and program enhancement initiatives. This position requires physical presence on campus to fulfill teaching responsibilities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Participating in the Academic Committee for the Counseling and Psychology Department.
- Delivering 24 units of instruction throughout the academic year.
- Overseeing HDP internships, including site development and student placements.
- Assisting the department chair with program promotion and departmental events.
- Exemplifying best instructional practices in the classroom and mentoring colleagues in these practices.
- Providing support for program assessment and review as necessary.
- Advising students each semester within the department.
- Engaging in scholarly and/or professional development activities.
- Integrating Christian faith into professional practice and serving as a role model for students.
- Completing additional duties as assigned by the department chair and the Dean of SAS.
Applicants must possess:
- A master's degree in counseling, social work, psychology, marriage and family therapy, or a related field.
- Prior teaching experience.
- A demonstrated ability to incorporate a Christian worldview into course design and instruction.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- A commitment to fostering positive relationships with students, faculty, and staff.
- A demonstrated Christian faith that aligns with Life Pacific University's commitment to The Foursquare Church Denomination.
