Job Summary

Mountain View Hospital is seeking a skilled Psychiatric Technician to join our team. As a Psychiatric Technician, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting the mental health and well-being of our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the LPN and RN in the overall management of the milieu, ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment for patients.
  • Provide care to patients in a manner that considers their safety, rights, comfort, and the therapeutic environment.
  • Observe patient behaviors and notify nursing staff when necessary, promoting a culture of open communication and collaboration.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, encouraging independence and promoting a sense of autonomy.
  • Collect vital signs, height, weight, and specimens as directed, maintaining accurate and timely records.
  • Assist with mealtime, recording intake as directed, and promoting a positive dining experience for patients.
  • Assist with patient trips outside the hospital, ensuring safe and secure transportation.
  • Serve as a role model for patients and co-workers, promoting a culture of respect and professionalism.
  • Assist with seclusion and physical restraints under the supervision of an RN, ensuring the safety and well-being of patients.
  • Interact with patients and staff in a professional manner, maintaining a positive and respectful attitude.
  • Consistently demonstrate competence in day-to-day scheduling of duties, completing tasks in a timely manner with minimal assistance.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED, current driver's license, and experience working with psychiatric patients preferred.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, collaborating with other staff in a supportive and team-oriented manner.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks such as heavy lifting, pulling, and reaching above shoulder level, as well as processing and responding to written and verbal instructions.
