Library Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Library Assistant to join our team at the City of Kodiak, AK. As a Library Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the daily operations of our library and providing excellent customer service to our patrons.

• Provide circulation services, including checking materials in and out, assisting patrons with locating materials, and maintaining circulation records.
• Participate in collection maintenance activities, including retrieving and processing materials, and maintaining the order of the collection.
• Perform technical duties, such as preparing and processing new materials for circulation, collecting payments, and applying spine labels and covers.
• Assist patrons with library computers, copiers, printers, and other equipment.
• Respond to patron inquiries in a courteous and timely manner.

• High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED), and two to three years of general library experience and customer service experience.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for prolonged periods.

This position requires working in a routine library environment with non-traditional work hours, including evenings and Saturdays.
