Job Overview

This position is designated for Night Shift operations.

Position Summary

The role involves the safe operation of a forklift within the tank yard to facilitate the unloading and transportation of raw materials.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Utilize a forklift to unload incoming shipments from trucks, which may include enclosed trailers and flatbeds containing various raw materials such as cucumbers, cauliflower, and other produce.
  2. Manually handle some raw materials packed in baskets or barrels, transferring them into designated bins.
  3. Load outgoing trucks with brine stock, pallets, and bins as required.
  4. Transport raw materials in plastic containers to and from processing areas including graders, washers, and tanks.
  5. Dump raw materials into hoppers using the forklift.
  6. Operate additional equipment such as graders and washers, ensuring proper functionality and that materials are processed correctly.
  7. Manage the transportation and stacking of empty plastic containers and identify defective ones.
  8. Weigh raw materials as necessary using forklift scales.
  9. Engage in physical tasks that may include lifting, pushing, and climbing.
  10. Adhere to safety protocols and company policies at all times.

Additional Duties

  1. Occasionally operate a tractor for product hauling, limited to trained forklift operators.
  2. Assist with various tasks in the Outside Production or Cutting departments as needed.
  3. Maintain cleanliness in assigned work areas, including unloading zones and processing equipment.
  4. Participate in training sessions, employee meetings, and team projects as required.
  5. Follow instructions from supervisors and perform other assigned duties.

Qualifications

Must be a certified forklift operator. A high school diploma with additional training is preferred. Proficiency in reading and writing in English is essential, along with a basic understanding of arithmetic.

Physical Requirements

This role involves various physical activities including climbing, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping. The ability to exert significant force and maintain visual acuity for operating machinery is necessary.

Work Environment

Work is conducted outdoors, subject to varying seasonal temperatures and occasional wet conditions. Exposure to machinery noise and various materials is expected. Personal protective equipment is provided as needed.
