The 3E/G unit at Spectrum Health is a distinctive collaborative environment comprising two specialized areas. The 3E section accommodates 24 beds for Medical/Surgical patients, while the 3G section is dedicated to 22 beds specifically for Orthopedic patients, focusing on Total Joint Replacement procedures. Our cohesive team operates across both sections, gaining diverse experience with various patient demographics, including those undergoing Total Joint Replacement, Hip Fractures, Osteomyelitis, and other medical conditions. Our nursing staff on the 3EG team participates in a renowned Joint Replacement program, recognized nationally for its excellence, managing approximately 2,800 patients annually. This program has achieved and sustained Joint Replacement Disease Specific Certification from the Joint Commission, reflecting our commitment to delivering exceptional care. Nurses typically oversee 3-5 patients during day shifts and 3-6 patients during night shifts.

Role Responsibilities

As a vital member of the healthcare team, you will assist in delivering quality patient care under the guidance of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider. Your duties will include performing fundamental tasks in accordance with departmental protocols and effectively communicating observations to the healthcare team. You will be responsible for gathering and reporting on the physiological, psychological, sociocultural, and spiritual needs of patients and their families, in collaboration with the RN or Provider. Key responsibilities encompass taking vital signs, monitoring blood glucose levels, assisting with personal hygiene, facilitating patient mobility, providing wound care, catheterization, and serving as a safety attendant for patients. Accurate and timely documentation of all required information is essential.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or ARC is required within 90 days of employment.

Work Schedule

This position is part-time, with variable shifts and a core schedule spanning six weeks. Weekend shifts are required every third weekend.
